2018:  The Run 4 Kids Challenge raised over $3000 for the fight against pediatric cancer.  A special thanks to all those involved.  The participants enjoyed a shower and rain free morning for running with temperatures in the low 60's, a cloud cover and somewhat humid.  A special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the event successful.  Groups of volunteers included those from Eldersburg Rogue Runners, Glory Days Grill and the Freedom District Lions Club.  Special thanks to family, friends and individuals from the community.  The businesses that helped make the race a success include Glory Days Grill, Ricottilli Lumber, AAA Mid-Atlantic, Mike Greenhill Photography and Tri Sport Junction.  A full list of supporters can be found on the money page.  The grand prize was upgraded on race day.  Race the pics can be found soon at  The after school challenge was won by Run 4 Change program primarily based at Oklahoma Road Middle School and the school challenge winner was Liberty Christian.  The team/club challenge was won by the Eldersburg Rogue Runners again.

The challenge is a 4K run and/or walk or a 10K run.  Originally for middle school students but has grown to include everyone.  In 2018, 100% of all entry fees benefited the children.  This was made possible through the generosity of donors and other fundraisers.  The race will again take place at Freedom  Park in Sykesville, MD on the 1st Saturday following Memorial Day, June 1, 2019.  The race targets the fight against childhood cancer.  Join us!

The 6th annual Run 4 Kids Challenge will be held at Freedom Park in Sykesville on Saturday, June 2 at 8:15AM.  This year's Challenges includes a 10K and 4K run and a 4K walk.  Those runners with chairs or strollers will do the 10K for safety reasons.

1.  School challenge among elementary and middle schools.    Award is a unique trophy and monetary prize

2.  Club Challenge based on participation. 

3.  After School Program Challenge based on participation. Will share award with school winner.

4.  Media Challenge based on coverage, donations and participants/volunteers.

AGE GRADED CUP INVITATIONAL CHALLENGE:  12 runners representing 6 different age divisions competing in the 10K.  Winners based on age graded time. This is by invitation.  If you wish to be invited next year, the main qualification is to have run the race before and/or have a direct connection is some way to the race.

AMENITIES:  Tee shirts to all entrants; limited sizes.  Ribbons to walk finishers; medals* to all elementary and middle school finishers; 

*adults with a special race such as first race, first race with child, recovery race, etc.- please see us for a medal after the race

PRIZES:  both male and female:  One half plus of the participants came away with a prize in 2018.

Race week and race day registration is $30 plus an extra donation of your generosity.   Thursday evening, May 31, at Tri Sport Junction on Main Street in Sykesville from 4:45 - 7:30 PM.  Race day registration at Park is from 7:15 - 8:00 AM.
